TUSD welcomes our new STEM Coordinator, Bryan Flaig. He will be working with site administrators and STEM implementation staff at sites and in the professional learning department to support the STEM implementation in PreK-5 and the expansion of the work into grades 6-12. Mr. Flaig has extensive experience in research, teaching, lesson planning, science, and curriculum development. He specializes in NGSS implementation and tech integration, designing and managing maker spaces, and creating maker-centered learning activities aligned to content standards for grades K-8. He has worked with many teachers and administrators to guide instructional change and raise student achievement. He received his Master’s in Educational Leadership from the University of the Pacific and Bachelor’s in Physics from Loyola Marymount University.
PreK-5 teachers will soon be receiving invitations to voluntary meetings to review STEM Unit A, with updates for distance learning. The unit kits contain hands-on materials to complete the design challenges at home.
